Painting

Peeling paint isn't a color problem.

Peeling paint isn't a color problem. It's water getting behind the finish, and another coat rolled over the top will fail in the same place next season.

What I Do

What I do on every job

Clean, scrape, and sand every failing area back to sound surface
Spot-prime bare wood, patched drywall, and repairs so the finish grips
Caulk and seal gaps around trim, windows, and doors
Cut in and roll finish coats in the sheen you choose, working top-down

What you’ll notice after

  • Edges that read sharp instead of wavy
  • No peeling or blisters after the first wet season
  • A color that holds up instead of fading out

Every job, start to finish.

My Process

Step by Step

1

Inspect & Prep

I walk the space with you, assess the surface, flag peeling areas, and protect floors, furniture, and trim before starting.

2

Clean & Scrape

Surfaces get cleaned, loose and peeling paint scraped, edges sanded smooth, and bare areas spot-primed.

3

Prime

Quality primer where it's needed for adhesion, stain blocking, and uniform coverage, especially on repairs and dramatic color changes.

4

Paint

Finish coats are cut in and rolled with the right nap and product for the surface, working top-down for an even finish.

5

Cleanup & Walk-Through

I remove tape, touch up, clean the space, and walk the results with you before packing up.

Painting FAQs

Common Questions

Do you handle peeling or flaking paint before repainting?+
Yes, and prep is the whole job. I scrape loose paint, sand the edges smooth, spot-prime bare areas, and fill minor imperfections first. Painting over peeling paint guarantees the new coat fails.
How often should I repaint the exterior of my home?+
Most exterior paint lasts 5 to 7 years on walls and 3 to 5 years on trim and shutters, which take more sun and moisture. I'll assess the condition and tell you honestly what needs repainting now and what can wait.
