Deck & Fence Restoration

Gray wood doesn't come back on its own.

Georgia humidity doesn't wait. Gray oxidation, mildew, and soft spots show up one season and turn into rotted boards and loose railings the next, which is when a refinish becomes a rebuild.

What I Do

What I do on every job

Clean and strip the old finish, gray oxidation, and mildew at the lowest effective pressure
Replace rotted, split, or loose boards and check every fastener
Sand the grain open so stain absorbs evenly instead of sitting on top
Apply a penetrating stain and sealant matched to the wood species and sun exposure

What you’ll notice after

  • Rich, even color instead of patchy gray
  • Solid boards underfoot and railings that don't move
  • A finish that repels water instead of soaking it up

Every job, start to finish.

My Process

Step by Step

1

Inspect & Quote

I assess the wood, identify rot or damage, and set the repair scope before any work begins.

2

Clean & Strip

Old stain, gray oxidation, and mildew come off with the right pressure and cleaners for the species.

3

Repair & Replace

Rotted or split boards, loose fasteners, and unstable railing sections get replaced and secured.

4

Sand & Prep

Light sanding opens the grain for even absorption and removes splinters and rough spots.

5

Stain & Seal

I apply a penetrating stain and sealant for even color and protection against UV and moisture.

Deck & Fence Restoration FAQs

Common Questions

How often should a deck be re-stained in Georgia?+
Most exterior decks here need re-staining every 2 to 3 years. Horizontal deck boards wear faster than railings and fences because they hold water and take direct sun.
Pressure wash or soft wash for wood?+
Wood needs a careful touch. I use the lowest effective pressure with appropriate cleaners, because too much pressure gouges the grain and raises fibers, which shortens the finish life.
