A sun-faded fiberglass hull restored dockside with multi-stage compounding, polishing, and ceramic coating at a private slip on Lake Lanier — the original color and depth brought back in a single day.

After several seasons on the water, the vessel's gelcoat had oxidized to a chalky, dull finish — the original color was barely visible and the hull had lost all depth and shine. UV exposure and hard-water staining at the waterline had compounded the damage. The owner wanted the hull brought back to a showroom finish and protected against another Georgia summer on the lake.
We mobilized dockside and started with a full hull wash and decontamination to remove algae, hard-water scale, and surface grime. With the hull clean, we performed a multi-stage cut-and-buff: a heavy-cut compound on a wool pad to remove the oxidized gelcoat layer, followed by a fine-cut polish on a foam pad to refine the finish and restore depth. We worked section by section to keep the compound from drying in the Georgia heat. Finally, we applied a marine ceramic coating to lock in the shine and add UV and waterline-stain resistance.
The hull came back to a deep, glossy finish with real depth — the original color was fully restored and the waterline staining was gone. The ceramic coating locked in the shine and gave the owner an easy-maintenance surface heading into the season. The owner was back on the water the next weekend.
